Our Approach

Diana Thorneycroft is a Winnipeg artist who has exhibited various bodies of work across Canada, the United States, Europe, as well as in Moscow, Tokyo and Sydney. She is the recipient of numerous awards including an Assistance to Visual Arts Long-term Grant from the Canada Council, several Senior Arts Grants from the Manitoba Arts Council and a Fleck Fellowship from the Banff Centre for the Arts.

Diana Thorneycroft asked us to re-design her portfolio site with the idea that she would be able to show off her newest work to the public when it was released. With her already widely known artistic talent, we had to be careful to portray her work in the most neutral light possible. Keeping this in mind we built the site in a very minimalist way, trying to let her artwork design the site for us. This can be seen in both the consruction of the wall of images (homepage) and the sleek and minimal galleries (portfolio pages). The wall of images uses the impact of each individual piece and multiplies this by the number of images on the page to hit the user on their first visit. She is a bold artist and a bold homepage was a good way to show this. The comparitively minimalist design of the gallery pages lets each artwork breathe and impact the user in a more individual way.
